Hello, I’m Nicola. After qualifying from Edinburgh University in 1991, I spent several glorious months working as a voluntary veterinary surgeon in Mauritius, gaining surgical experience, neutering the cat and dog population for the MSPCA. Armed with this expertise, I returned to the UK and worked in mixed practice first in Suffolk, and then Lincolnshire, for five years before settling for small animal work.
I’ve been living and working in Kent since marrying my husband James in 1999, and joined the team at Toachim House in 2008 as a part-time veterinary surgeon. I’m now very familiar with our lovely regular clients and patients, and am always happy to meet all the new ones. I love the variety that being a first opinion practitioner brings, and the impact we can have with preventative health care. I particularly enjoy medical cases, but also have an interest in welfare and the legal aspects of our profession.
I live near West Malling with James and our two sons aged thirteen and ten – who, I’m happy to say, share my love of animals, but all three are far too squeamish to assist with any nursing when needed! We have one gorgeous family Maine Coon cat called Rumpus who followed our beloved Mog last Autumn (for anyone who is familiar with the Judith Kerr “Mog” stories). In my earlier years, I had a passion for sky diving, gliding and travel, but now enjoy cycling, cooking and spending time with the family.
I look forward to welcoming you at Toachim House.
