I had always wanted to work with animals as a child & a teenager. However, my application to study veterinary science at university was unsuccessful. I qualified as a scientist from Trinity College Dublin & Imperial College London & enjoyed a happy and rewarding career as a teacher & assistant headteacher for 25 plus years. Following redundancy, I made a decision to follow my childhood dream & retrain as a veterinary nurse.
I joined Toachim House originally on work experience during Easter 2016. I have been blessed that this led to a full time position as a trainee animal nursing assistant. I really enjoy being part of such a wonderfully talented,
energetic & compassionate veterinary team. In September 2017, Toachim House practice has agreed to me starting a day release level 3 diploma in veterinary nursing. I am so excited.
Outside work, I live with my very patient husband & our 10 year old female, rescue tabby cat Sulin, who came from Happy Endings, a local animal rescue centre. She has no teeth, loves food of any kind (if let !) and is totally loving. I enjoy reading, jazz, foreign movies, cooking, good wine & spending time with my husband & cat at our holiday home in France.
